Summer Transition Program


Program Overview: 

The Summer Transition Program (STP) at Mizzou gives students an opportunity to take classes during the summer semester to get a jumpstart on their college success. The program provides a small group of students the chance to earn 5 credit hours, build relationships, and get a feel for what Mizzou has to offer. The Summer Transition Program has been in existence since 1994 and has helped hundreds of students become more successful at Mizzou.

 Program Details:

  • From JUNE 2ND UNTIL JULY 28TH students will join a group of 35 freshmen to get a jumpstart on their college career.
  • Learn from two award-winning Mizzou faculty by enrolling in Biology 1020 and Sociology 1000 to earn five college credit hours that count towards graduation.
  • Live on campus, eat in the dining hall, and experience all that college life has to offer.
  • Get the opportunity to build positive habits for college success without the stress of the fall semester.
  • Develop success skills through participation in learning strategies, financial literacy and personal growth workshops throughout the summer.
  • Build a success network of professors, staff, and peers to make sure that college is a rewarding experience.
  • Academic Retention Services will support students for their entire academic career to better connect them to resources and avenues for success.
  • At the end of the summer, each student receives a scholarship worth $2,500 a year upon successful completion of the summer portion.
  • The scholarship is renewable each year for a total of 4 years based on attendance, GPA and credit hour requirements.

Program Cost:

  • $500 (includes 2 classes, Meals, Room and Board)
  • Need-based scholarships are available 
  • University Mandated Fees (eg student activity fee, recreation facility fee, supplemental course fees etc)  are NOT included in the $500
